Seattle Goodwill's Holiday DIY Contest

"When we saw Seattle Goodwill's Holiday DIY Contest, we knew it'd be the perfect opportunity to connect with a local company doing work we love. We spent a few hours at the Dearborn location, and as per the usual, left with plenty of goodies ready for the Dunn DIY treatment."

We're always looking for opportunities to connect with local companies. When we saw that Seattle Goodwill was putting on a Holiday DIY Contest, we didn't have to think twice about participating. They're asking Seattleites to showcase their DIY projects with before and after pictures with a chance to win three very, very cool prizes: a set of tickets to The EMP Museum's INDULGENCE New Year's Eve Bash, a jewelry package featuring three gorgeous pieces from various Goodwill locations, and a U-District prize package including four tickets to see Jet City Improv perform with a gift card to a nearby restaurant.

We thought this was a great chance for some of our Dunn DIYers to show off their skills. Be sure to enter the contest here! Once you've entered the contest, send us an email letting us know that you entered. Include the before and after images of your project so we can feature you on the Dunn DIY Facebook page!

Dunn DIY visits Seattle Goodwill

We decided to go to the Dearborn location as it is the largest Goodwill store in the nation. Yes, you read that right. The biggest Goodwill store anywhere in the United States is in our backyard. As per the usual, our visit to the Goodwill store proved fruitful. While we could have piled our arms high with Goodwill finds, we decided to remain focused and keep to our plan: find a great knick knack to give the Dunn DIY treatment and enter in the holiday contest. (We may or may not have been distracted by the vintage jewelry and pewter tea sets, but we had a mission to accomplish.) Onward!

We settled on a few sets of coasters, a cookie tin from the 1980s, and a small side table that we have big plans for. The contest closes at midnight on December 22. Check back on Tuesday, December 23rd for our finished project!
